Recreational

WRASC’s recreational program is designed for swimmers ages 5-12, and practices one hour per week. New for the 2024/2025 season is a two hour per week program! To conclude each program, our recreational swimmers will develop a small routine to swim in the club watershows.

The recreational program is the perfect introduction to the sport of artistic swimming, focusing on developing swimmers’ strength in the water, as well as introducing basic artistic swimming skills and techniques. Placed in a fun-filled, supportive team environment, young swimmers are able to dip their toes into the world of artistic swimming and create a strong foundation of skills that are essential to athlete development.

Swimmers are divided into teams based on age and swimming abilities to best tailor practices to each team’s needs and skill level. For newer swimmers, practices will focus on fundamental artistic swimming skills. More advanced swimmers are able to be challenged by their coaches as they introduce new skills once the basics have been mastered.

Our recreational program centres around four key areas of athlete development:

  • Strength

  • Stamina

  • Flexibility

  • Teamwork
